Seema Sehrawat

Dr. Seema Sehrawat is Professor of Social Work at California State University, Chico, and a senior higher-education leader with extensive experience in academic administration, interdisciplinary program development, and institutional strategy. She most recently served as Chief of Staff to the President (2022–2025), where she was a cabinet-level advisor responsible for advancing university strategic planning, coordinating cross-divisional initiatives, leading campuswide efforts related to Title IX and DHR implementation, employee engagement, community agreements, and campus safety, and supporting executive decision-making. Dr. Sehrawat joined Chico State in 2009 as a tenure-track faculty member after earning her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Missouri–Columbia. Over the course of her career, she has held numerous leadership roles, including Associate Dean in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management; Program Director of the Concrete Industry Management Program; and Director of Distributed Learning BSW and MSW Programs, where she led the expansion and sustainability of distance education serving underserved regions of California. A scholar of aging, social engagement, equity, and educational innovation, Dr. Sehrawat has published peer-reviewed articles and has presented nationally and internationally. She is the founding director of Chico State’s Interdisciplinary Center on Aging and has secured significant external and internal funding to support workforce development, STEM pathways, student success, and interdisciplinary initiatives. Dr. Sehrawat’s work is grounded in a deep commitment to inclusive excellence, student-centered learning, and collaborative leadership across disciplines and communities.
