Matthew Aaron Hiller
Dr. Matt Hiller is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Chico State and a licensed clinical social worker. He holds a master’s in degree in social work from the University of Chicago and a joint doctoral degree in social work and anthropology from the University of Michigan. He has also completed certificates in cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychoanalytic psychotherapy and has over a decade of clinical practice experience working in hospital, community mental health, and private practice settings. For his research, Hiller is currently drafting a book based on his doctoral dissertation—an ethnographic study on the use of ketamine in mental health and chronic pain treatment. Additionally, he is involved with the emerging field of critical OCD studies, which looks at how perspectives from the humanities and interpretive social sciences might offer new lenses for understanding experiences of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
