Angelina Gomez is the Director of Bands at California State University, Chico where she leads the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Pep Band, and Clarinet Choir. She also teaches conducting and music education courses, studio instruction in clarinet and saxophone, and supervises the student chapter of the National Band Association. Dr. Gomez maintains an active schedule as a rehearsal clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor for honor bands throughout Northern California, including the CMEA Northern Section Jr. High and High School Honor Bands, Donner Mine Music Camp, and the NCBCDA Honor Concert Band.
Originally from Santa Rosa, California, Dr. Gomez received her degrees from Sonoma State University, Washington State University, and the University of Kansas. Her conducting mentors include Andy Collinsworth, Danh Pham, Matthew O. Smith, and Paul W. Popiel. Prior to her appointment at Chico State, Dr. Gomez held similar posts in Santa Rosa City Schools and the Wright Elementary School District.
Dr. Gomez is a member of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), the National Band Association (NBA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the California Music Educators Association (CMEA), Women Band Directors International (WBDI), and is an honorary member of the Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority.
