Andrea Rioux
Andrea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She joined the School of Social Work in 2003. She has been teaching and involved in the Practicum team throughout these years. She enjoys the excitement of student engagement and growth as they learn to embrace the professional career of Social Work. She has been practicing for over 35 years. She has had the privilege of working with a vast array of agencies and diverse populations ; a large part of her practice has been in the work of Trauma. She has over 28 years of experience as a Trauma/Emergency Department Social Worker. She has had a private practice for the past 20 years focusing on Trauma Informed Practices implementing organizational/system change as well as individual/group education and growth. She is a trainer and public speaker in the areas of Vicarious Trauma, Secondary Trauma and Compassion Fatigue. She is a Facilitator and Educator in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.
