Barbara D'Augelli
Barbara D'Augelli began studying music as a child, participating in band and music programs at Etiwanda Elementary School, Alta Loma High School, Columbia Junior College, Cuesta College, and College of the Siskiyous. She graduated from CSU Chico with a Master of Arts in Flute Performance while also intensively studying bassoon. With years of experience teaching woodwinds privately, Barbara joined the CSUC faculty as bassoon instructor in 2006 and as flute instructor in 2018.
Barbara has played bassoon and contrabassoon with North State Symphony Orchestra since its inception (and previously Chico Symphony), principal bassoon with Paradise Symphony Orchestra since 1993, and contrabassoon with Mendocino Music Festival Orchestra since 2005. She regularly performs with Symphony of the Redwoods and has played frequently with Shasta, Solano, Veridian, and Apollo Symphony Orchestras.
Also a member of the Mendocino Festival Big Band on baritone saxophone, Barbara is a seasoned performer in musicals, jazz bands, and big bands. She is fortunate to have played with musicians including Little Anthony, Shari Lewis, the Temptations, Buddy Collette, Joe Henderson, and Grant Levin.
Her teachers include Steve Braunstein, David Granger, Rufus Olivier, George Longazo, Daniel Hiestand, Olando Tognazzi, Ron Hoopes, and George Mattos.
