Jaquan Keonte Doby
Originally from a small town in South Carolina called Lugoff, Jaquan Doby is a dedicated higher education professional whose passions center on student development, leadership, and creating inclusive residential communities. His work is grounded in a commitment to service, accountability, and empowering students through transformative experiences.
Jaquan began his academic journey at Winthrop University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2023. During his undergraduate experience, he developed a strong foundation in student engagement and leadership, which shaped his interest in student affairs and residential education.
He continued his education at Kennesaw State University, earning a Master of Education in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Student Affairs in 2025. Throughout his graduate experience, Jaquan deepened his knowledge of student development theory, assessment practices, and leadership in higher education, while completing fieldwork focused on residential life and student success.
Previously, Jaquan served as a Residence Hall Director at the College of Coastal Georgia, where he oversaw a multi-community residential system serving over 850 students. In this role, he supervised a large student staff team, managed residential programming and operations, and led initiatives designed to enhance student belonging, retention, and academic success. He also played a key role in student conduct processes and campus operations, including oversight of residential policies and student support systems.
Here at Chico, he now serves as a Residence Conduct Coordinator, where he focuses on fostering accountability, student learning, and equitable conduct processes within the campus community. His approach emphasizes education over punishment, ensuring that student conduct serves as a meaningful opportunity for growth and reflection.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Jaquan is committed to continuous growth as a leader and practitioner. His leadership philosophy emphasizes being a reliable and compassionate presence for students, particularly during moments of challenge and transition. Through his work, he strives to create environments where students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed.
